S8 · HS
S8 / HS servo system – one-parameter commissioning
A 400 and 750 W system where one tuning parameter completes the setup — for machines that need absolute feedback without a commissioning week.
The S8 series pairs S8 drives with HS series motors where a single tuning parameter is enough.
Speed loop bandwidth reaches 2.5 kHz, against 1.5 kHz at −3 dB for previous products, with lower motor noise. A 17-bit absolute encoder is standard, giving 131,072 p/r against the 10,000 p/r of a 2500-line incremental encoder. Four notch filters, two of them adaptive, suppress mechanical resonance, while low-frequency vibration at the mechanical end is suppressed separately to shorten settling time, and inertia identification works online and offline.
The hardware is built for easy connection: pluggable screw terminals, a standard RJ45 port for RS485, a Type-C commissioning port, a 5-digit LED display and five silicone keys. CN1-A and CN1-B accept pulse commands by differential drive or open collector; CN2 carries the encoder, CN3 and CN4 the communication ports, and CN5 the commissioning terminal.
Two ratings are offered, 400 W and 750 W, both single-phase 220 VAC, in pulse + RS485 (P) and
EtherCAT (N) versions. The designation S8P-750 gives the series, the product type and the rated power.
2.5 kHz speed loop
Against 1.5 kHz at −3 dB on previous products, with lower motor noise at the same load.
Four notch filters
Two adaptive, for mechanical resonance; low-frequency vibration is suppressed separately.
131,072 p/r
A 17-bit absolute encoder as standard, thirteen times the resolution of a 2500-line incremental encoder.

S8 drive and HS motor pairing
Two ratings, two flange sizes, and the same encoder logic as the HK motors.
| Rated power | Supply | Versions | Motor | Rated torque | Max. torque |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 400 W | 1-phase 220 VAC | P (pulse + RS485) · N (EtherCAT) | HS, 60 flange | 1.27 N·m @ 3000 rpm | 3.2 N·m |
| 750 W | 1-phase 220 VAC | P (pulse + RS485) · N (EtherCAT) | HS, 80 flange | 2.39 N·m @ 3000 rpm | 6 N·m |
Maximum speed 6000 rpm; rotor inertia 0.52 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² (60 flange) and 1.48 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² (80 flange). Cables come in 3, 6 and 10 m lengths.
Selection notes
How to choose within the range
- Pair the 60 flange motors with the 400 W drives and the 80 flange motors with the 750 W drives — that is the catalogue combination.
- Encoder cable comes in single-turn four-core and multi-turn six-core versions; the six-core carries the battery.
- Omit the brake cable where the motor has no brake, and specify drag-chain cable for moving axes.
