FGs · FGR
FGs and FGR series — volume and ultra-slim PLCs
FGs for volume machines that need AC supply and expansion; FGR for cabinets where 25 mm of depth is all there is.
Two families cover the volume and the ultra-slim ends of the range.
FGs is the volume line: AC 100–240 V supply, 16 to 64 points, compiled code more than ten times faster than an interpreting controller and full password protection. Its envelope covers pulse and counting to 200 kHz, 2–4 pulse channels with real-time speed and position adjustment, interpolation and electronic cam, 8 expansion modules and more than 20,000 lines of user program. RS232, RS485, USB and Ethernet carry free-port and Modbus protocols, with Modbus RTU networks over RS485 reaching 127 devices. Main units run from FGs-16MR-AC to FGs-64MT-AC between 109.5 × 92 × 80 mm and 216 × 92 × 80 mm.
FGR addresses machines with very little panel depth: 25.2 mm wide, 92 mm high, 63.4 mm deep and 102 g, at a favourable price/performance ratio. FGRB-C8X8T-2/2 provides 8 inputs and 8 transistor outputs with two counter and two pulse channels at 200 kHz; FGRS-C8X8T-4/4 uses the high-performance CPU to double this to four of each with two AB-phase channels; FGRB-C8X6R has 8 inputs and 6 relay outputs. Interfaces are one mini RS232 port at 1200–115200 bps, one RS485 port at 4800–115200 bps and USB, with no Ethernet.
The FGs designation uses five fields: FGs, I/O total, output type (MR relay, MT transistor), supply (A for AC) and architecture (C for compiled). FGs expansion modules add a C suffix at 109.2 × 61.7 × 80 mm and 250 g.
Electronic cam and interpolation
Built into FGs, so a mechanical cam can be replaced in software without an add-on module.
25.2 mm wide
FGR fits behind a machine panel where a standard DIN controller will not go.
127-device Modbus network
RS485 Modbus RTU reaches 127 devices on one FGs controller.

Main units are 109.5 × 92 × 80 mm at 16–32 points and 216 × 92 × 80 mm at 48–64 points. The designation is FGs + I/O total + output type (MR/MT) + supply (A) + architecture (C).

FGR has no Ethernet. Expansion uses A-E / FGR-E digital modules and FGR-E analogue and temperature modules.
Selection notes
How to choose within the range
- FGs is the cost-optimised AC line; choose FAs when the machine needs CAN, four pulse axes or Ethernet expansion beyond eight modules.
- FGR has no Ethernet — if the machine will ever be networked, specify FGs or FAs instead.
- Electronic cam and interpolation are built into FGs, which removes a motion module from the BOM on rotary machines.
