Application
Textile and yarn
Tension, speed and wind angle across dozens of spindles — with a Modbus network that reaches 127 drives on one port.
The machine
Winding, warping and dyeing control
Textile machines are long. A winder may carry 24 to 96 spindles, a warper hundreds of ends, and a dyeing machine a dozen temperature and level loops. The control problem is rarely one fast axis; it is many similar axes that must stay in step, and a recipe that changes with the yarn count.
Operators are often multilingual and the machine may be sold into three countries from one build. The panel's language set and the drive network's device count matter more than the screen resolution.
The control
What has to happen, and fast enough
A single RS485 port running Modbus RTU reaches 127 devices, which covers most winder and warper drive groups without a second network card. Electronic cam in the FGs and FGm families keeps wind angle and traverse in step without a mechanical cam, and 200 kHz counting reads the yarn-length encoder.
For dyeing, four to eight PT100 channels at 16-bit hold the temperature profile, and the recipe stores the ramp rather than just the setpoint — a distinction that decides whether two batches match.
Recommended hardware
A typical bill of materials for this machine
These are the models the export desk quotes most often for this application — not the only valid combination.
| Function | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Operator panel | SK-102QS | 10.2-inch, Ethernet, 50 languages, recipe groups |
| Controller | FGs-64MT-AC or FAs-66MT-AC-E | 32 DI / 32 DO, four pulse axes, Modbus RTU master |
| Winder axes | R8-2204P-N + HK-40/60 flange | 400 W class, 3000 rpm, compact flange |
| Temperature | S-E4PT4T | Four PT100 channels at 16-bit for dye baths |
I/O counts and axis counts assume a mid-range machine. Send the actual list and the quotation will be sized against it.
Engineering notes
What usually goes wrong
- Plan the RS485 chain before the cabinet layout: 127 nodes on one port is a wiring discipline, not just a specification.
- Store the full ramp in the dye recipe, not only the hold temperature.
- A 10.2-inch panel is usually the smallest that shows a multi-spindle overview legibly on a factory floor.
- FGs carries electronic cam as standard; check that the cam table fits the winder's ratio range before committing.
Send the machine, not the model
Describe the axes, the I/O and the market it ships to. We answer with a model code, a cut-out check and a landed-cost quote — usually within one business day.
Next step
Tell us what the machine has to do.
Send the axis count, the I/O list or a photo of the existing panel. You get a model recommendation, a wiring note and a quote — usually within one business day.
