Expansion
Expansion modules — S-series and F-series plug-ins
Digital, analogue, temperature and relay channels for the FAs, FAT and GT families — on a CAN bus or in a front slot.
Two module families extend an FAs, FAT or GT controller. S-series modules attach to the right-hand CAN bus at 30 × 97 × 72 mm and 109 g, and each can run a program independently. F-series plug-ins occupy the front slots of FAs controllers and GT all-in-one units at 39 × 46 × 33 mm, drawing power from the main unit.
Digital types cover 8 to 16 channels, transistor or relay. The analog range pairs inputs with digital outputs where that saves a slot: S-E4TC4T, S-E4PT4T and S-E4AI4T combine four inputs with four outputs. Temperature modules accept K-type (−50 to 800 °C), T-type (−260 to 400 °C) or PT100 (−200 to 850 °C) at 16-bit; voltage and current inputs take 0–5 V, 0–10 V and 4–20 mA at 16-bit and ±0.1 %, and analog outputs are 12-bit at ±0.5 %.
Naming is compact: C adds a CAN port, M means main-unit use only, and the E prefix removes high-speed counting and pulse output.
64 modules on CAN
S-series modules chain on the right-hand bus at 1 Mbps; each can run its own program.
16-bit temperature
K-type, T-type and PT100 at 16-bit, with combined input/output modules that save a slot.
Front-slot plug-ins
F-series modules draw power from the main unit and add 4–8 channels without widening the DIN rail.

All S-series modules are 109 g and mount beside the controller on the right-hand CAN bus. The -M suffix means main-unit use only; the -C suffix adds a CAN port; the E prefix removes high-speed counting and pulse output.

F-series modules occupy the front expansion slot of FAs controllers and GT all-in-one units and take power from the main unit.
Selection notes
How to choose within the range
- Combine four temperature inputs with four digital outputs where the machine needs both — S-E4TC4T, S-E4PT4T and S-E4AI4T save a slot each.
- 16-bit S-series analogue inputs (±0.1 %) outperform the 12-bit FGR and FGs modules (±5 ‰); do not mix them on a machine that measures.
- Plan the CAN bus as a chain and give each module an address before commissioning; addresses can be changed in software but not physically.
