Servo
Servo systems – R8 and S8 drives with HK and HS motors
Two drive families with absolute feedback: the R8 for machine builders, the S8 for one-parameter commissioning — with the motors and cables that match.
Two servo families, both with absolute encoder feedback. The R8 series pairs with HK motors and runs from 400 W to 3 kW, in pulse/analog plus RS485 or EtherCAT versions. The S8 series pairs with HS motors at 400 W and 750 W, and is tuned with a single parameter.
The R8 is the machine-builder's drive: 16 kHz current sampling, a 1.3 kHz speed loop on pulse models and 1.6 kHz on bus models, torque feedforward that brings position settling to 5–6 ms, and an internal multi-position function with 16 positions so a stand-alone axis needs no motion controller.
The S8 is the one-parameter drive: 2.5 kHz speed loop bandwidth, a 17-bit absolute encoder as standard (131,072 p/r against 10,000 p/r for a 2500-line incremental encoder), four notch filters — two adaptive — and pluggable screw terminals.
Both are supplied with the matching encoder, power and brake cables, in standard lengths from 3 to 15 m, with drag-chain rated cable for moving axes.
Settling in 5-6 ms
Torque feedforward and a 1.3-1.6 kHz speed loop cut position settling time on the R8.
Pulse, analog, RS485, EtherCAT
One drive family, four ways to command it; the P and Z variants share the motor and the cables.
Auto-tuning that assumes nothing
Online and offline inertia identification plus mechanical characteristic identification with a notch filter.
Motor, drive and cable matched
The catalogue carries a matching table per motor model, so the cable part numbers arrive with the drive.

Model range
Two families at a glance
Choose by axis count and tuning effort: the R8 covers the wider power range, the S8 minimises commissioning time.
| Family | Drive | Motor | Power | Encoder | Command |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R8 + HK | R8-22xxP / Z | HK series | 400 W – 3 kW | 17 / 23-bit abs. | Pulse/analog + RS485 or EtherCAT |
| S8 + HS | S8P / S8N | HS series | 400 W / 750 W | 17-bit abs. standard | Pulse + RS485 or EtherCAT |
Both families use absolute encoders; multi-turn versions retain position over 65,535 revolutions and need the six-core encoder cable that carries battery wires.
